I have been severely neglecting this blog....I could say it's because we don't have m much going on, but in reality, it's because I've been so busy! I have about 20 hours of class scheduled per week, plus all the class prep. I am prepping for an English course that I am going to teach at Church starting in January too....that'll have upwards of 50 people in it! The Institute year just ended...we had graduation on Saturday. So now I am starting preparations for next year!
I am getting things ready for Christmas too. I have nearly finished my Christmas shopping...but now I need to get sewing. I cut out a dress for myself last night and have the challenge of putting that together without the crutch of my Mom to help me. That will be a good challenge for me. I am also making a book for Little L., so I've got that all on paper...now I just need to get it on the fabric! Because I've got it all drawn out, though, it shouldn't be TOOOO hard to make!
While I am writing this, Little L. is playing with my sewing fun stuff....ribbons, beads, buttons, velcro, etc. It keeps her entertained, and she has actually learned a lot that way!
Speaking of Little L. and learning, she has been making HUGE strides lately....every day I am amazed at how much she knows. She knows all the colors in English and several in Portuguese; she counts to ten in both English and Portuguese, and she is putting together entire sentences, which just amazes me. Her grasp of language is incredible; she understands pronouns and uses them correctly, and even articles! For example, the other day out of nowhere, she saw a picture of a baby and said "I see the baby!" I just stared at her, dumbfounded. She is growing taller and taller every day, too. I just can't believe how fast time is going by!
Lately I've been making and selling a bunch of sweets, too. It has been a huge blessing in our lives. So I really have been super busy, but it's good! I promise that next time I write, it will be more interesting for you all to read. I just didn't want to keep going forever without at least writing something on here. See ya next time!
Ultimamente tenho feito e vendido vários doces.

This whole "Growing up" thing.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. Today Little L. is clingier than she has been for a while...she is not feeling well. While it drives me nuts sometimes during the day, I also love that she wants to sit and cuddle with me. She's so active, it rarely happens anymore!
About 10 days or so ago, Little L. starting putting herself to bed. She had already been going to sleep on her own for several months, but usually after a few minutes of cuddling. One night out of the blue, she just pointed to her crib right after bedtime prayer, and went to sleep all by herself. I was in shock...it was a bittersweet day! That happened every day after that, for both naps and bedtime, except for like once where she actually wanted to cuddle.
I love seeing Little L. turn into an independent little girl. I guess that means Husband and I are doing something right! The whole point of raising children is to teach them to be independent adults, right?
I guess the Growing Up part is just coming a lot faster than I expected. Little L. feeds herself, helps herself to snacks, drinks out of a cup a lot of the time, runs around like crazy, talks ALL THE TIME, is learning to use the potty, picks out her own clothes, helps with the household chores....it's all happening so fast! My dad always says that he wishes we could've stayed 4 years old forever. With every day that passes and every 10 new words that Little L. learns, I understand more and more this sentiment.
I love seeing Little L. become the sweet, kind, affectionate little girl she is, but I also miss my little baby. It is all happening so fast! It feels like just yesterday I was in labor, just yesterday she spent hours in my arms every day, just yesterday we celebrated her first birthday (and even THAT came too fast!), and all of a sudden, here we are. She will be 2 in a few short months.
I thank God every single day for the opportunity to be Little L.'s mommy. She has taught me so much about unconditional love, trust, and forgiveness. I just wish that for just one moment, time could stand still so I could enjoy her being this little before I blink and she's grown up!

Crayons and Baby Wipes
As I was sweeping my house this morning, I was thinking about how I should really sit down and write. Then Little L. went and helped herself to a banana, which just melted my heart. I can hardly believe she is at the age where she can do that….she went, took it off the bunch, peeled it, and is now munching away while humming and dancing through the house. Oh, and unplugging my laptop. Par for the course, I guess, as I am focused on writing at the moment!
One of her most recent escapades was writing on the wall. My own fault, actually. We have a wall where we record her height over time, and so in her little mind, it’s okay to write on the wall….at least on that part. Last week, I was washing dishes, and Little L. was playing in the kitchen behind me, as she often does. She likes taking all the placemats out of the drawer and setting them up like stepping stones throughout the house. I have yet to figure out what she’s doing. The only thing i can think of is that she figured out “The Floor is Lava” all on her own….
Anyway, suddenly all was quiet. And then I heard some scratching noise. Afraid she had somehow gotten ahold of a knife, I went after her, and found her writing away on the height wall. It was blue. It was orange. It was green. It was gray. It was yellow. And then I noticed another beautiful blank wall (read: canvas) had been decorated with orange.
How could I scold her when I was the one who wrote first on the wall?? That’s when she got her lesson in erasing and scrubbing. But just water wouldn’t get the crayon off. That’s when my Mom sent me this link…
The baby wipes worked, but then they also starting taking the paint off. We did end up getting most of it off, but there is still one decorative orange line on the no-longer-blank canvas!
E aí minha mãe me mandou esse link...
